What is Student Grievance Redressal Cell?

“A grievance may be any kind of discontent or dissatisfaction or negative perception, whether expressed or not, arising out of anything connected with University that a Student/Parent/Faculty/Staff member thinks, believes, or even feels, is unfair, unjust or inequitable.”

UGC Notification about Grievance Redressal Cell

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued several regulations and notifications to ensure a transparent, fair, and efficient grievance redressal mechanism in all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). These guidelines mandate the establishment of a structured system for addressing academic, administrative, and service-related issues of students.

  • UGC Circular (10 January 2025): Instructions to all HEIs to set up Equal Opportunity Cells and SC/ST Cells and to regularly submit grievance-redressal data.

Nodal officer , Student Grievance Redressal Cell

  • The Nodal Officer is responsible for receiving, monitoring, and coordinating the resolution of student grievances as per UGC guidelines. They ensure that complaints are addressed promptly and fairly, maintain grievance records, and act as the primary point of contact between students and the institution’s Grievance Redressal Committee.
