Eligibilty Criteria

Guru Nanak Dev University offers admissions to a wide range of Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, Certificate, and Doctoral programmes. Eligibility criteria vary according to the course level and programme requirements. The general eligibility guidelines are given below:


1. Undergraduate Programmes (UG)

(BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, BCA, B.Tech, B.Arch, B.P.Ed, etc.)

General Eligibility

  • The candidate must have passed 10+2 (Senior Secondary) examination from a recognized Board.

  • Minimum percentage requirement varies by course (generally 45%–60%).

  • Some programmes require specific subject combinations, such as:

    • Science subjects for B.Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Math)

    • Mathematics for B.Tech, BCA (in some cases), or Economics

    • Commerce/Math for B.Com (Hons)

  • For B.Tech, eligibility may be through JEE (Main) or GNDU entrance test.

  • For B.Arch, eligibility is as per COA norms, with NATA qualification.

Additional Requirements

  • Entrance Test may be required for selected programmes.

  • Reservations and relaxations apply as per Government of Punjab / GNDU norms.


2. Postgraduate Programmes (PG)

(MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MBA, MCA, M.Tech, M.Ed, etc.)

General Eligibility

  • Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant or allied discipline from a recognized University.

  • Minimum required marks: generally 50%–55% (relaxation applicable for reserved categories).

Course-Specific Requirements

  • MBA: Graduation + valid score in GNDU GMET / CMAT or equivalent exam.

  • MCA: Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics/Statistics at 10+2 or graduation level.

  • M.Tech: B.Tech / BE in relevant branch + GATE/GNDU Test.

  • M.Sc programmes: UG degree with required subject combinations (e.g., B.Sc Physics for M.Sc Physics).


3. Doctoral Programmes (Ph.D.)

General Eligibility

  • Master’s degree in the concerned discipline with 55% marks (50% for reserved categories).

  • Must qualify:

    • GNDU Ph.D. Entrance Test, OR

    • National-level exams such as UGC-NET/JRF, CSIR-NET, GATE, etc.

  • Shortlisted candidates must clear interviews as per UGC Ph.D. regulations.


4. Diploma & Certificate Courses

General Eligibility

  • For Diploma (UG level): 10+2 pass.

  • For PG Diploma: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.

  • Certificate courses may require 10th, 10+2, or Graduation, depending on the programme.


5. International Students

  • Must meet equivalent qualification standards recognized by AIU.

  • Valid student visa, passport, and eligibility certificates required.

  • English proficiency: IELTS/TOEFL may be required for some programmes.


6. Reservation & Relaxation Policies

  • GNDU follows Government of India / Punjab Government rules for:

    • SC/ST/OBC

    • Physically Challenged

    • Defense category

    • Sports quota

  • Relaxation in eligibility marks applies as per norms.
